Hospitals can seem unfriendly and even frightening to children. As the treatment of childhood illness is a lengthy process and requires regular attendance at hospitals, children spend a substantial amount of time in the wards. Quick Action Foundation aims to make treatment area more children friendly and welcoming. QAF involved dedicated volunteers and staff for organizing and decoration of the children hall.
The life of an orphan is something most of us can’t comprehend. We can’t emphasize enough the NEED and DESPERATION that these millions of precious children face. They live their lives void of love, comfort, and security. Their lives are full of fear, uncertainty, sickness, and often result in death. This Event was about creating a good life for those who would otherwise never had a chance at all. A lot happens within our environment. It may be hard to believe but yet true that the life orphan children live is of big challenge
There are foundations throughout the world that have made it their mission to help as many of this disadvantaged, traumatized children as possible. Quick Action Foundation is One of them.
In rural areas, there are often no facilities available for basic health care needs. The few which are available are under-staffed and mismanaged. Hence poor families suffer, particularly women and children because of the lack of female doctors in remote locations.
Quick Action Foundation aimed to bring health care and hygiene promotion to the underprivileged women and their children for better lives which will definitely leads to the better future. Because of which Quick Action Foundation organized a medical camp to facilitate the marginalized women and children of Landi Arbab, Peshawar, KPK with a focus of reducing Child Mortality and improving the Maternal Health. The main objective of this particular camp was to bring affordable healthcare and free health information to the community and identify the common health related problems of the community in order to devise ways of addressing them.
Quick Action Foundation organizes QAF successfully had a wonderful humanitarian adventure at the SOS village Rawalpindi and more recently during the just concluded World Cancer Day held at Shaukat Khanum (SKM) Lahore. The worthy activities of QAF were not unnoticed, thus informed the readiness of Dunya News and FM 100 to sign MOU with us. Unequivocally, this is a step in the right direction for QAF and an indication of good omen that more societal acknowledgement of QAF’s contribution is in the offing. Without mincing words, the coordinated and mutual understanding between the larger society and QAF was made possible through the good and efficient office of Ms. Hira Basir and Mr Omer Mirza, who have been working to ensure that QAF’s inscriptions make indelible landmark.
At Shaukat Khanum memorial hospital, the event was kicked start with brief introductory speech by QAF staff (Ms Hira Basir). The speech was followed by a tour of the hospital, which gave us ample opportunity to engage with the cancer children patients individually at their respective hospital rooms, as the hospital could not convene all of them in a single spot.
The worth of sound health is better known only when one is ill, the worth of life is unknown, not until we lose our dearest ones. Visitation of hospital offers a golden opportunity to knowing the worth of life and sound health. Indeed, the children, whom QAF met at the hospital, are 3-16years of age. Cancer is indeed cancerous and troubling disease especially when children are affected. Our assertion is that the public and private wealthy Pakistanis should invest their wealth in saving the lives of these children inflicted by different kinds and types of cancer. It was heartbroken and moment of wet eyes seeing helpless children lying on their beds helplessly. QAF shared the pains and travails of the children and we never hesitated to extend good kind and moral gesture to them. QAF distributed gifts to the kids and had photo sessions with them after taking permission from their guardians. However, not all were comfortable with taking pictures and QAF truly respects that.
Besides, we added colors to their days, as QAF staff gathered few kids and had coloring and painting session with them. The fairly good times expended with the kids was not just momentous but replete of live. We concluded the tour session with a brief, yet productive meeting with Ms Saadia and her staff. They could not conceal their gratitude, appreciated QAF visit and gesture and eventually agreed to collaborate with QAF on similar page.
The account of the event will be incomplete without the acknowledgement of Mr. Haroon Rashid’s contribution, although invited to grace the event, but his busy schedule undermined his presence. Mr. Haroon remains one of the well-wishers of QAF, mesmerized by our activities and hoped QAF will not discontinue to adding grease to its elbow. Same gratitude goes to Mr. Ijaz Aslam, a famous actor and model, who on short notice failed to disappoint, rather graced the event by his gracious presence.
Quick Action Foundation organizes a charity event at SOS Children Village on Saturday, January 26th, 2013 enefitting a large number of families at SOS Children’s Village, Pakistan.
We have distributed sweaters, warm clothes and blankets to widows. In total one hundred (500) families received the distribution. It was a token expression from Quick Action Foundation to the people. The expression of gratitude by the people delineated the degree of the impact of the distribution and it appears they would prefer such gesture to be frequented at their dwellings.
This would not have been possible without the support of all the people who generously donated us these clothes and blankets. Thus, we deeply thank you all! Unequivocally, Quick Action Foundation believes the distribution will patch a hole in the financial spending of the recipients, as money to be expended on such materials can be utilized for other household necessities.
QAF hosted a grand iftar dinner which was marked by overwhelming participation. Along with iftar organization's aganda item also came to the table, Formal activity at identified sites Arrangements for food and water Coordination with stakeholders for impact and maximum aiding Distribution of food packs, Separate activity for Shelter homes
To date QAF has generated over $300,000 to support the under privileged of Pakistan.
Natural disasters are inevitable even though can be monitored. Pakistan was struck by an unprecedented earthquake (2005), the scars of the quake were still haunting till the shocking massive flood of (2010) and were followed by the Dengue virus outbreak (2011) and the tragic Siachin avalanche in 2012. For all of these risks, calculated, proactive and exigent response are indeed necessary to faces these challenges.
QAF was quick to act swiftly for the cause of the flood affected areas. We have planned and on the verge of hatching our plan for the victims of the flood. We have clear targets which include the homeless, those that have forfeited their (agricultural) livelihood, the health sectors and schools for children. The desperate necessity of these facilities cannot be underestimated; it is rather exigent and cogent to work towards rehabilitation of these people. Given the heavy loss of almost 2,500 households and the heavy monsoon in UC AzakhailPayan Union Council of Nowshera district in KPK province, QAF chooses to render our service to the selected district.
QAF started fogging activities in underprivileged areas such as Kachi Abadi and we also defogged local mosques and police stations. Awareness through printed materials in local language with pictorial representations are being distributed by the respective teams to help people understand the methods of preventing dengue. QAF is closely working with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to establish a fully equipped Epidemic Control Centre (ECC) which will help communities fight the spread of dengue.
The affected Union Councils of Nowshera district are in deeply distressed as they are currently confronted by the challenges of:
Destruction of stored food stock and infrastructural damage resulting to destitution and hunger
Contaminated water supply and acute shortage of clean and portable water, hence the need for clean water facility
Dilapidated and falling houses needing Reconstruction
Lack of Toilet facilities which resultantly exacerbates the issue of airborne diseases and infections of which children are mostly affected.
The destruction and the need of the communities do not need a distant watch but a closer attention that require swift response. The exigency of the situation underpins our mission and explains why laxity will be the least expected by the communities from the rest of the country.
