Quick Action Foundation IN Shaukat Khanum (SKM) Lahore on World Cancer Day.
Quick Action Foundation organizes QAF successfully had a wonderful humanitarian adventure at the SOS village Rawalpindi and more recently during the just concluded World Cancer Day held at Shaukat Khanum (SKM) Lahore. The worthy activities of QAF were not unnoticed, thus informed the readiness of Dunya News and FM 100 to sign MOU with us. Unequivocally, this is a step in the right direction for QAF and an indication of good omen that more societal acknowledgement of QAF’s contribution is in the offing. Without mincing words, the coordinated and mutual understanding between the larger society and QAF was made possible through the good and efficient office of Ms. Hira Basir and Mr Omer Mirza, who have been working to ensure that QAF’s inscriptions make indelible landmark.

At Shaukat Khanum memorial hospital, the event was kicked start with brief introductory speech by QAF staff (Ms Hira Basir). The speech was followed by a tour of the hospital, which gave us ample opportunity to engage with the cancer children patients individually at their respective hospital rooms, as the hospital could not convene all of them in a single spot.

The worth of sound health is better known only when one is ill, the worth of life is unknown, not until we lose our dearest ones. Visitation of hospital offers a golden opportunity to knowing the worth of life and sound health. Indeed, the children, whom QAF met at the hospital, are 3-16years of age. Cancer is indeed cancerous and troubling disease especially when children are affected. Our assertion is that the public and private wealthy Pakistanis should invest their wealth in saving the lives of these children inflicted by different kinds and types of cancer. It was heartbroken and moment of wet eyes seeing helpless children lying on their beds helplessly. QAF shared the pains and travails of the children and we never hesitated to extend good kind and moral gesture to them. QAF distributed gifts to the kids and had photo sessions with them after taking permission from their guardians. However, not all were comfortable with taking pictures and QAF truly respects that.

Besides, we added colors to their days, as QAF staff gathered few kids and had coloring and painting session with them. The fairly good times expended with the kids was not just momentous but replete of live. We concluded the tour session with a brief, yet productive meeting with Ms Saadia and her staff. They could not conceal their gratitude, appreciated QAF visit and gesture and eventually agreed to collaborate with QAF on similar page.

The account of the event will be incomplete without the acknowledgement of Mr. Haroon Rashid’s contribution, although invited to grace the event, but his busy schedule undermined his presence. Mr. Haroon remains one of the well-wishers of QAF, mesmerized by our activities and hoped QAF will not discontinue to adding grease to its elbow. Same gratitude goes to Mr. Ijaz Aslam, a famous actor and model, who on short notice failed to disappoint, rather graced the event by his gracious presence.
